India Sight-seeing & Craft Tour  Oct  2020.

Full details coming Feb 2020.

Space is limited so please get in touch if you would like to provisionally reserve a place.

Over the past decade India has become my second home and the friends I have made there I would consider as family. One such friend is Gurudutt  Soni, a master goldsmith descended from several generations of goldsmiths hailing from the village of Kadel, near Pushkar, Rajasthan.

Having been asked on many occasions by my students about the possibility of guided jewellery-based holidays to India I hosted my first facilitated jewellery tour to India in 2016 and another in January 2018.

The jewellery classes cater for beginners and improvers and students will gain a new confidence working their designs from initial ideas to completed masterpieces using ancient techniques and a surprisingly basic collection of tools. There are 3 full days of jewellery-making timetabled into this tour, however students will have the option to increase or decrease the jewellery aspect of their trip as desired. A miniature painting, block-priniting on fabric, traditional dance, nagara drumming and cookery classes are some of the other activities offered in the tour and we will visit many traditional craftspeople and artists.

The trip will take in many sights in Rajasthan and Agra including the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur and the Taj Mahal.

The India I present is very much the traditional and rural India and you will gain an insight into this fascinating country that you would never experience on a regular package tour. This also means that while every effort is made to ensure maximum comfort and peace of mind in an environment which can seem very daunting on first arrival, an open mind and heart and a sense of adventure is essential!

Professional guides, drivers and tutors will be utilised at all times, and many students extend their stay pre or post-tour to holiday in the popular beach resorts of Goa and Kerala or the mountainous regions of northern India.
